Foods Workshop Sunday!

The AC Foods Workshop is this Sunday, Oct 5 from 2-4 at the Extension Office. We will cook a healthy and fun snack, play games & all kinds of fun food things. Cost is $7 per 4-Her to cover supplies and food. If you want to come or have questions, please call (631-4658) or email Jill (you can reply to this blog email) so she will have enough food & supplies for everyone. Interested in the County Food Show? Try to bring a recipe or idea of what you'd like to prepare.

If you missed the first meeting, or lost your Food & Nutrition Project Info handout, you can download another one HERE.

Way to go Club!---- Thanks to all the hurricane relief supplies you brought to the last meeting, we were able to donate 7 Disaster Kits to the Salvation Army! They were so excited to receive these supplies! Great job, everyone!

Livestock Project Validation Dates

Lambs, Goats, Beef & Dairy Heifers -- Sat. Oct 18 from 8-noon at the Show Barn. $5 per animal. You must validate/tag your animal in order to show

Pigs -- Mon or Tues, Nov 24 or 25th -- 6-8 p.m. $5 per animal.

Sheep & Goat Showmanship Clinic -- There will be a showmanship clinic immediately following validation for sheep and goats on October 18th (at noon.) This will be a great way to learn how to prepare your animal for the show ring. Now's the time to start practicing, teaching them to lead & brace. Hope you can make it.

Having trouble finding an animal to show? If you are looking for an animal, please call Travis at 574-4914 or Jill 631-4658 and let us know. We can point you in the right direction. Ownership deadlines are the validation dates listed above.

Still looking for an animal project -- Chickens are easy & inexpensive! Deadline is immediate, so if you're interested, call Travis at the Extension office 574-4914 or Jill 631-4658 for more info.

Veterinary Science
I've scheduled a vet to speak at the October meeting on general veterinary care of animals (dogs, cats, horses, your livestock projects, etc). This will be the first in a series of lessons on vet science. Others will be "hands on" activities.

Archer City 4-H News ---- Jill has a one page newsletter you can download HERE. It has more information on photography, vet science, deadlines & dates. This same newsletter will also be mailed to all Archer City 4-H families. Please forward it on to anyone who might be interested.

Updated Dates & Deadlines ---- These dates are posted on the AC 4-H website calendar, but you can also download the latest version HERE.
