Some important dates...
The club will be doing Angel Tree shopping on Thursday, December 15th.  We will be meeting at the Walmart on Highway 79 at 5:45 PM and this will last about an hour.  Kids will shop for Christmas presents for four children in the community who may not get any gifts this holiday season.  Parents are welcome to stay and help!

We are having a Christmas party on Tuesday, December 20th, instead of the regular meeting!  Come to the activity building at 7:00 PM and go on a hay ride and sing carols.  We will make s'mores afterwards!
While kids are out caroling, parents are needed to roll breakfast burritos to freeze for the stock show concession stand.

Also on the 20th - Late stock show entries are due!  There will be a $25 late fee.  If you plan on showing an animal or participating in the home economics division, you must turn in your entry by this date because no entries will be accepted afterwards!

Halloween and Fundraiser Update

OCTOBER MEETING RECAP

At the October 4-H meeting on Tuesday the 18th, there was a teamwork program! Groups of five or six kids were given a marble and pieces of PVC pipe and they had to get the marble across the room and into a cup by making a 'bridge' with the pipe. If a group dropped their marble, they had to start over. The activity clearly showed the importance of working together.

FOOD DRIVE
The club is in the process of doing a food drive for the Archer City Food Pantry. At the October meeting a collection of canned items and other non-perishables was started. On Halloween the club is trick or treating for canned goods! If you are interested in participating, dress up and be at the Archer County Extension Office at 6:30 on the 31st. There will be goodies for all participants afterwards!!!

WREATH SALES ARE BACK!!!
Once again, the club is doing a wreath selling fundraiser! Each 4-Her is requested to sell 3-4 freshly harvested, 24 inch wreaths from Minnesota. Orders need to be in by November 11th. The wreaths will be delivered the week after Thanksgiving. Wreaths are 25$ each if a local 4-Her is going to deliver it to you, or for 33$ you can drop-ship the wreath anywhere in the US. To order a wreath, ask a 4-H member or call the Archer County Extension Office at (940)-574-4914. A portion of the funds gathered from selling wreaths will be donated to the Archer Service Center. The Service Center does meals on wheels and is in need of financial support to keep serving the community. Thank you for your support!

Don't forget to Join 4-H

If you haven't joined 4-H online, I want to encourage you to do so. It takes about 10 minutes (and if you have trouble, call the office 574-4914...it take a little bit of effort...not super user-friendly). This link will take you to 4-H Connect, where you can create a profile to join. There's a $20 fee per 4-Her to join, but this goes up after October 25th, so be sure to join now!

What's coming up in 4-H? CLICK HERE to download the Calendar of Events for this fall.

If you would like email updates (best way to stay in touch with 4-H activities) please join our Google Group -- see the link to the right. We'll send out reminders for meetings, events, etc.

If you have any questions about 4-H, feel free to call Extension Agents Kathryn or Justin (574-4914) or Doug & Jill Dunkel (631-4658)

CLEANUP CREW --
And a BIG THANK YOU to the families who helped clean up the County Show Barn a few weeks ago. Your "bravery" with all the spiders & the dead bat (yuck!) was much appreciated!!!!

LIVESTOCK PROJECTS --
If you need help looking for a livestock project to show (lambs, goats, cattle, chickens, rabbits, etc) you MUST talk to Justin and let him know ASAP that you need help. Otherwise he will assume you've got it under control! If you'd like his advice/help with your animal, please give him a ring as well.

Congrats to the Archer County 4-Hers who showed at the T-O Fair!
