Hope everyone had a great Christmas and your stock show & 4-H projects are ready!

Our club is responsible for the Buyers Dinner this year. If you have a livestock animal & will be in the sale, we need your help!

  • Please bring 1 dozen corn bread muffins to the Activity Building by 5 pm on Saturday. You can set them in the kitchen on Friday or Saturday (Jan 4-5th)
  • Charla Foreman is getting a "set up" crew to meet at 10a.m. Saturday (Jan 5th) to put out tables and chairs. Text her at 632-7737 if you're available to help for about 30 minutes.
  • Cheryl Miller is in charge of the "clean up" crew to take down tables & chairs just before the sale starts. **Please come to the activity building to help around 6:45pm Saturday evening!
  • We need about 10 kids to help refill drinks, clear plates, etc. during the buyers dinner. PLEASE REPLY if your 4-Her can help. If so, be there by 5pm on Saturday.

October Events for Archer City 4-H

The October 4-H meeting is next Tuesday, October 16th @ 7pm. We will discuss important upcoming dates for livestock exhibitors, talk about record books, a photography workshop, etc. We also have a fun activity planned, so come prepared to be a little creative!


On Saturday, Oct 20th the club is participating in the Archer City Fall Festival on the square. Our club will have a booth selling drinks and playing games. Regina Nicholson is looking for helpers! Please email Regina at 
<rnicholson@haigood-campbell.com> or 940-636-2674 if you would like to help work the booth. It opens at 3 and will run until dark. Regina will develop a schedule of workers once she knows who is interested.


The club will be Trick-O-Treating for canned goods on Halloween. Put this on your calendar and look for a specific time & location!

Horse Judging

Congrats to all who participated in the horse judging activities!  Archer County has two Jr. teams, both of which met with success at two contests last weekend.  We are looking forward to having a great time at the district contest!  Last weekend's results were as follows:
1st contest: West Texas A&M: 23 teams, 72 participants 
Archer County Team #1: Sidney Dunkel, Alexis Shanes, Lane Collins, and Blake Dunkel

The next Archer City 4-H meeting will be held Tuesday, February 21st.


Information on the 2012 Dog Project --


On Sunday, January 19th, from 2:00-3:00, Pam Allen is doing a talk on dog obedience.  She is also bringing a dog to do an obedience rally demonstration.  Rally is one of the events offered at the Texas State 4-H Dog Show, so make plans to attend if you are thinking about participating!


On Sunday, February 5th, from 2:00-3:00, Michelle Nestor will do a presentation on using dogs for therapy.

Both activities will take place at the Archer County Extension Office.  Check back for more dog project dates soon!

Stock Show

The Archer County Jr. Livestock  Show is coming up January 6th and 7th!!! 

Livestock ---
The show barn in Archer City will be open to animals on Thursday, January 5th, in the evening.  Weigh in for animals is between 7 and 9 AM the following morning in the show barn.  Classes will be divided up by weight after all weights have been taken and will be posted in the barn. 
You must turn in your sale card(s) by noon on Saturday!  If you do not, you will not be allowed in the auction that night, which starts at 7:00 PM.  The order of the sale will be available around 6:00 PM Saturday night.

Home Economics Projects ---
Bring projects to the Activity Building between 9 and 11 AM Friday morning.  The projects will be available for pickup around 4:30.  If you enter photography, please leave your photo(s) at the building because they will be displayed during the buyer's dinner Saturday night.
